Esti Napló — Evening Journaling App

Effective date: 3 July 2026 · Last updated: 3 July 2026 · Version 1.0

This Privacy Policy explains how Esti Napló (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. Esti Napló is a mobile evening-journaling app for iOS and Android that lets you write a short nightly entry — by typing or by voice — track your mood, and build a streak habit. We designed the App to be private by default: your journal lives on your device, and we collect as little as possible. Please read this policy to understand what data is involved and the choices you have.

1. Who We Are

Esti Napló is operated by its app publisher, a company established in Hungary (European Union), reachable at dev@hypercodesolutions.io. As an EU-based operator, we act as the data controller for the limited personal data described below and process it in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at that address.

2. The Data We Process

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the App. The table below summarises what is involved and where it lives.

CategoryWhat it isWhere it is stored
Journal contentThe text of your nightly entries, mood selections, timestamps and streak history. On your device (local encrypted-at-rest SQLite database). This is the source of truth.
Anonymous account identifierA random, non-identifying user ID created for you automatically. No name, email, or phone number is requested.Firebase Authentication (anonymous sign-in).
Voice dictationSpeech you dictate into an entry, converted to text on your device.Processed on-device by the operating system. Audio is not recorded or uploaded by us.
AI reflection input (Premium only)The entry text or extracted keyword “tags” you choose to send for an AI reflection or follow-up question.Sent securely to the Anthropic AI service via our backend, only when you use a Premium AI feature.
Reminder settingsYour notification time and on/off preference, plus an “onboarding seen” flag.On your device (local preferences).

We do not collect: your real name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, or browsing history. The App contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide the journal: saving, displaying, and letting you edit your entries, moods, and streaks.
  • To sign you in: an anonymous identifier lets the App keep your data associated with you without asking for personal details.
  • To send reminders: local notifications at the time you choose, generated on your device.
  • To power optional AI features (Premium): when you actively request a reflection, follow-up question, or weekly insight, the relevant entry text or tags are sent for processing and the result is shown to you.

We do not use your journal content to train AI models, to advertise to you, or for any purpose other than delivering the features you use.

4. Voice Input (Free Feature)

Tapping the microphone dictates your entry using your device's built-in, on-device speech-to-text (Apple Speech on iOS, Android SpeechRecognizer on Android). This conversion happens locally. We do not record audio, and no voice audio is transmitted to us or to Anthropic. Only the resulting text becomes part of your entry, exactly as if you had typed it. Using the microphone requires your permission, which you can grant or revoke in your device settings.

5. AI Features and the Anthropic Service (Premium)

AI reflection, adaptive follow-up questions, and weekly pattern insights are optional Premium features. They are the only features that send journal content off your device, and only when you actively invoke them.

  • Requests are routed through a secure server-side function that adds the necessary credentials; the AI provider's API key is never stored in the App.
  • To limit what is shared, the App is designed to send only the relevant entry text or a small set of extracted tags — not your entire journal history.

AI processing is performed by Anthropic (the provider of the Claude models). Anthropic processes the request to generate a response and does not use API inputs to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy terms at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

If you never use a Premium AI feature, no journal content ever leaves your device through this path.

6. Storage, Sync, and Security

Your entries are stored in a local database on your device and are the primary copy of your data. The App uses a cloud backend (Supabase) to enable optional synchronisation and backup of journal data. Data in transit is protected with industry-standard TLS encryption. Cloud tables are protected by row-level security. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

Because your journal is stored locally, deleting the App or wiping your device may permanently remove entries that have not been synced or exported. Use the in-app export feature to keep your own backup.

7. Device Permissions

PermissionWhy we request it
MicrophoneTo let you dictate journal entries by voice (on-device only).
Speech recognitionTo convert your dictation into text on your device.
NotificationsTo deliver the nightly journaling reminder at your chosen time.

All permissions are optional and can be managed at any time in your device's system settings. Declining a permission simply disables the related feature; it never causes the App to crash.

8. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of service providers, strictly to operate the App:

  • Firebase Authentication (Google) — anonymous sign-in identifier.
  • Supabase — optional cloud storage and synchronisation of journal data.
  • Anthropic — AI processing for Premium features only, when invoked.

Each provider processes data only as needed to deliver its part of the service. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.

9. Data Retention and Your Choices

  • On-device data stays until you delete the entry, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
  • Export: you can export your journal from within the App at any time.
  • Deletion: deleting entries in the App removes them from your device; you may request deletion of any synced copy by contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

10. Children's Privacy

Esti Napló is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Users

Our service providers may process data on servers located in other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers. By using the App you understand that your data may be processed in locations outside your country of residence.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.

13. Contact Us
